Dave Hollist grew up on a dairy farm in Fairbanks, Alaska in the 1950’s a very different world than that of Capital Hill. While earning an Associate’s degree in Biology, Hollist studied the work of Charles Darwin and moved on to government when his professor explained there was limited research available on the topic of evolution because it was too dangerous a field.
Through the work of Ayn Rand, Dave began to believe that the success of the United States Constitution was because it limits the actions of politicians. If a person’s actions can be proven in a court of law to be a threat, it should be stopped. An elected representative taking money from people through taxation is more than a threat—it does real harm now because people need their money to live. Ayn Rand further suggested charging people for using the courts to settle their contract disputes. This would voluntarily pay for government, and abolish the extortion threat under which we find ourselves within the current economic construct of taxation. This is the basis for contract insurance, which is the platform for his 35-year candidacy to amend our constitution and provide a new moral economic structure for citizens that does not require taxation of wealth.
Currently residing in Southern California, Dave Hollist has been working to right the economic wrongs of the US Government since his college years. He now states he has gotten as much as he can out of the candidacy and prefers to find someone who will run on the basis of contract insurance within his political party, and for whose efforts he may champion. Without taxation American citizens would be able to enjoy a more free institution of enterprise in a way that, up until its implementation, would be seen as criminal. “A people who pay a tax on their labor are not a free people, they are by definition indentured servants.”
